They assist educators and families in identifying children who may require some additional support with specific skills. A screening assessment is useful to have whilst in preschool/daycare so your educators are able to customise their daily programming to benefit your child! We provided screening assessments for general skills as well as school readiness!

-
If a child has been flagged as needing help through a screening assessment, how can you assist? Our Occupational Therapist can provide your educators and the child with support in a variety of ways, including: Providing one-on-one therapy services for the child within their school or home environment. Our aim is to work with your educators to provide realistic and non-disruptive strategies and activities which will be easy to implement throughout their day and also benefit the other children (e.g. Which particular fine-motor activities will suit the needs of the child, do your educators needs some advice on regulating activities to maximise engagement and attention, do you need some recommendations in terms of practicing self-care tasks?) Working with your educators on the floor to assist them in running activities/strategies, with the aim of your educators soon being confident to conduct these activities themselves. What is your experience with sport & exercise?Alaskah has been playing sport for a majority of her life - Soccer, Oztag, Netball, Athletics, Touch Football and Swimming to name a few. Alaskah is accustomed to the nature of sporting organisations, the needs of sporting teams and is understanding of team dynamics. Growing up, Alaskah has experienced events within her personal life that has led her to have an in depth understanding of how difficult it can be for children with additional needs and their families to be accepted and feel supported within sporting teams. Currently, Alaskah is an Athletics and Gymnastics Mum. She now has developed a new found role of being a parent of a sporting participant, rather than a team member on a sporting team. From a parent's point of view, I now understand that all parents want their children to feel a sense of inclusivity and support throughout their time playing sport. Sport is an important aspect of a every individual's development - physically, mentally and socially.
